Italian/Swiss pianist Chantal Balestri is a versatile classical musician active in the European & American music scenes. Highlights of her recent career include a solo appearance with the NYU Symphony Orchestra and her debut with the violinist Lucilla Mariotti at Carnegie Hall.
She is recipient of numerous scholarships and competition awards, most recently the Miami Piano Festival 2017. She has concertized through Europe and North America at venues including in Lincoln Center, DiMenna Center, Wiener Saal (Austria), Sala Piatti (Italy), Kaisersaal der Historisches Kaufhaus (Freiburg, Germany), Auditorium de Lalonja.
Her repertoire includes a wide ranges of styles, from Baroques to contemporary eras. She has presented premeries of solo and chamber music works, including Massimo Giuntoli’s “Piano store” commissioned by Yamaha Piano Europe. In 2008, she had the opportunity to perform the pieces of Rodion Shchedrin for the composer himself.
Chantal earned a BM and MM degrees with honors at the Lucca Conservatory (Italy) and the New York University, where she studied with Jeffrey Swann. She has been invited to perform for Paul Badura-Skoda, Benedetto Lupo, Jura Margulis, Andrei Gavrilov, Antonio Pompa-Baldi in music festivals like MusicAlp Festival (Courchevel, France), International Piano Academy (Freiburg, Germany), the Summer Academy of Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria), Euro Music Festival (Halle, Germany).
After having served on the faculty of NYU Steinhardt for 2 years, she is currently a staff pianist while teaching at The Piano School of NYC, the Riverdale Music Studio and the Youth Theatre Interaction.
Chantal speaks four languages (Italian, English, French and German) and has taken violin lessons. In Summer 2015, she was the Artistic Director and Director of Operations of the Festival “Amicizia in Musica” (Milan), which she organized in collaboration with Furcht (Kawaii Pianos) and the Società dei Concerti of Milan. She maintains a Duo with the flutist Giorgio Consolati. Together, they founded the musical ensemble “CoSì” with Italian and Italian-American musicians. Chantal is the US Promoter of the Virtuoso & Belcanto Music Festival (Lucca).
